The WGSS Green Team was at it again this past weekend, pulling English Ivy from a Bertrand Creek site in Brookswood. Despite the rain, we showed up ready to work. This particular site had a steep slope, which was somewhat difficult to navigate due to slippery mud. Although English Ivy is not too strenuous to remove, actually transporting it up the slope proved a challenge. To pull each tarp full of ivy to the truck, two people hauled the tarp from the top, two from the sides, and two from behind. With great determination we eventually managed to move it all, sliding down the slope several times to say the least. By the end of the day, our shoes did not resemble much more than lumps of mud caked to our feet, our pants were glued to our legs and our gloves were oozing filth. Needless to say, we were looking forward to hot showers afterwards! Although, The work was made worth it by the satisfaction we all felt after seeing the transformation of the site. We're looking forward to the next adventure!
